[REVIEW] Althea Skincare Line "Bare Essentials"

 Hi guys!

So recently AltheaKorea is releasing the shop's first ever skincare line named "Bare Essentials" which is aiming at the simplest skincare as base makeup because sometimes complicating your skincare won't do your skin good. I was lucky to become their blogger and trying this first hand.

There are three products in this line which is the Contour Cleanser, Primer Water, and Fixer Cream which is the usual steps that you can find to complete a skincare routine.

The first product, which is also the first step in the skincare line is the "Contour Cleanser"

Ingredients:
Glycerin, Water, Myristic Acid, Stearic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Palmitic Acid, Lauric Acid, PEG-32, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Lactose, Potassium Cocoyl Glycinate, Polyquaternium-67, Sodium Chloride, Disodium EDTA, Menthol/Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Polyquaternium-7, Fructooligosaccharides, Saccharide Hydrolysate, Pullulan,1,2-Hexanediol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Mesembryanthemum Crystallinum Extract, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Acetate, Butylene Glycol, Lippia Citriodora Leaf Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance

Product Description:
A rich and foaming cleanser that removes impurities while improving blood circulation for that V-shaped look. It contains microcapsules to gently exfoliate dead skin cells and leaves the skin feeling cool and refreshed.

My Thoughts:
The cleanser is very thick in texture and I guess it was due to the presence of cornstarch as one of the ingredient. It has this microcapsule that will dissolve while rubbing the cleanser on your face.

Because the texture is quite thick and I only need a pea-size amount of it to cleanse my face as it lathers quite easily (caused by Cocamidopropyl Betaine). It is quite a deal for RM23.00 cleanser and a big one at that because it will last for quite long.

As I cleanse with this, I do notice that it's quite minty because the presence of menthol in it and it has quite a strong scent to it which I believe came from the Lippia Citriodora Leaf Extract and Fragrance. As written in cosDNA, the Lippia Citriodora Extract is an ingredient that acts as a perfume and astringent and it is quite hazarding since it is on the red-level (7). The scent is too strong in this one and I have not used much-scented skincare these days so it does bother me.

As for the performance, I do notice that it quite sucked on the natural moisture on face after I was the cleanser off my face. You know the feeling of the dryness like those pulling feels? It's literally that. Also, I'm not sure which ingredients caused this but every time after I use this cleanser, the sensitive part of my skin which is along my temple hurts, although there isn't a physical thing can be seen like redness or such but it does feel hurt. However, this wasn't the worst cleanser I've tried because it doesn't do those "squeak-squeak" thing although I'm hoping that they would revise some of the ingredients that can be used by people who have sensitive skin.

The next product is "Primer Water"

Ingredients:
Water, Propanediol, Diphenylsiloxy Phenyl Trimethicone, Alcohol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Salvia Hispanica Seed Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Tromethamine, Betaine, Fructooligosaccharides, Saccharide Hydrolysate, Xanthan Gum, Ethylhexylglycerin, Pullulan, Butylene Glycol, Dipropylene Glycol, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Saussurea Involucrata Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Origanum Vulgare Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Extract, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Sclerotium Gum, Agar, Polysorbate 20, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Fragrance

Product Description:
Smooth, hydrating and ever so slightly balm-like, this bottle of wonder penetrates into the layers of the skin and making it a smooth canvas for products to come. Made with patented dewdrop technology, it smoothes and evens out the skin, prepping it for the next step and leaving the skin in a youthful glow.

Price: RM43.00

My Thoughts:
This rich primer water does feel like an emulsion to me. It's thicker than most essence and it is definitely closer to an emulsion texture which is liquidy but still retains a weight to it.

According to cosDNA, the ingredients are pretty much safe with the medium hazard ones are the Polysorbate 20, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil and Fragrance (3 to 4). Do note that the alcohol is the fourth highest ingredient as well.

To be honest, I did like this primer water although the scent is also quite strong in this. It is because it doesn't break me out nor giving me any strange effects on my skin rather it supply my skin with moisture and it has my favorite ingredient too which is the Centella Asiatica Extract that works so well on my skin :D

I usually used this primer water by pouring the desired amount of my palm, rubbing it between my two hands and dab it on for a few seconds to let the emulsion absorbs into the skin. I do see a slight brightening to the skin after some time (because of Snow Lotus) and the dewdrop technology which is to provide moisture is definitely a plus!

The last product is the "Fixer Cream"

Ingredients:

Product Description:
Powerful moisturizing properties are packed into this little jar that provides the skin with hydration for up to 24 hours for a fresh, revitalized complexion. It penetrates deep into the layers of the skin to plump them and it has non-sticky finish once absorbed.

Price: RM50.00

My Thoughts:
This cream is so silky in texture and it feels so light on my skin and it hydrates pretty well too. Since it is light and easy to spread on the skin, I prefer to wear it on the day because it won't interfere with my foundation texture. It is not sticky as it claims although this too has a strong scent to it.

From the ingredients, it seems that there are a few that could be acne triggering such as Olea Europaea Fruit Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, PEG-100 Stearate, and Butylene Glycol while Cyclopentasiloxane, Polysorbate 60, PEG-100 Stearate, Polysorbate 20, and Fragrance are a medium hazard. Although there are a few that could be acne triggering, so far I did not experience any breakout while using this product nor it did inflame my skin so I think that's good.

The product also claims to be supplying 24-hour hydration and although I did not use this for the whole 24-hours, I do think that the hydration lasts pretty long! It also contains my all-time-favorite Centella Asiatica Extract for wounds healing and skin improvement.

Bonus: Aside from sending the slab of marble, Althea also sent its hand mirror! How cute is that?!

[REVIEW] Althea Petal Velvet Powder

Hello guys! Wow, it's been a while! (I promise there's a new review that I'll be posting next so this sentence won't be as cliche every time I posted a new review with a month apart XD)

So today I'll be reviewing this NEW Althea Petal Velvet Powder from althea.kr and it is also their first ever product! If you see the photos below, you would already guess on how much the powder left, because I've been using it ever since I've gotten it.

This debuting beauty is a translucent powder that sets makeup and leaves behind a silky finish to the touch. Infused with oil from Althea seeds, this powder works to keep sebum production at bay without drying out the skin for a radiant, fresh look, all while giving out a gentle scent. Keep your makeup looking great all day or dust some on to stay shine-free! - excerpt from Althea (althea.kr)

Size: 3g / Price: RM16 / Color: translucent, for all skin types.

Can you see on how much it already left inside?

Came with a super smooth, velvety puff :3

One thing that I like with this packaging is that the "holes" are pretty big if compared to some "popular k-brands" powder and this makes it easier for me to let out the product on the cap and dab the powder from there.

source : althea.kr

When I first test it out, I was surprised on how silky the texture of the powder! I never use a powder that was as smooth as this and I was totally mind blown!

The powder is very lightweight and it was almost translucent in color because even though it is claim as translucent, but if you put a little too much, the white color will show through on the skin, although not much.

There's a little flowery scent too it which the smell is not overpowering and smells really nice! I do notice that using it for some time now has changed the scent a little, which I think it may be cause my mixing of cosmetics.

The powder itself is very easy to apply and spread easily with the puff. I tried both brush and the puff and honestly, the puff did a great job rather than my brush so I like using the puff better.

It does keep the oil away for my oily skin for a few hours, maybe about ~4 hours until I see a little sebum on my forehead and around my nose and so far, it doesn't break me out at all although I sometimes would have it on face for a long day! Be sure to watch out for creasing because it would crease after a few hours especially when the area have crease and sebum.

Overall, I think it was a nice powder and it was so cheap too! They would have this even in the lower price for a discount event sometimes so watch out!

and psssst, do you know that Althea also offered buy 2 and free shipping right now?! It was ridiculous because I would totally broke faster like this XD

Thank you for reading and here's a photo of the box that althea.kr sent to me and just look inside! It's soo cute and smells good too!

[HAUL] Althea Birthday Kbeauty Haul

Hey guys!

As you might have known (if you followed me on insta or my fb page), last month was the Althea.kr First Birthday Celebration and me, as one of the first Althea collab blogger feels excited that they have came a long way now :) So as for their birthday celebration, I did a haul with them but it was too bad that it was right after I made a kbeauty order so I didn't get much for this haul :(

Initially I wanted the new Laneige BB cushion however it was sold out at Althea at the time I made this order so I just picked random products to try. Most of these items are usually the one that I would not buy for my Kbeauty haul but it is interesting to have them once in a while :D

Althea frequently have special box for their events and this time it's the birthday box! (It's sold out now) but you will still get the Althea pink box every time you order with them :)

The birthday kit on the right came in with the box and they still have the giveaway going on for that :D

All the items I ordered.

My mom always said that I neglect my hair too much so when I saw this I thought of why not try it. I didn't care much about my hair before because it's short and my hair was in pretty good condition. However, I started to grow my hair about the end of the last year and it's a problem since then and it is the hair fall..T_T

As you might seen, I already used the hair vinegar and I can say that it smells heavenly <3 It did made my hair softer but it did nothing for my hair fall problem. I also noticed that it tangled my hair if I don't brush it after applying the vinegar and tangl-y hair wasn't even a problem for my hair in the first place. I'm not sure if I would recommend this because I only like the smell, so probably won't be repurchasing this.

My sponge that I have were already damaged so I needed a new one. Some asked if the sponge were comparable with Beauty Blender or Real Technique which I can't tell since I never tried any from those brand coz I rarely use sponge to begin with. It's just recently I've been liking the Klairs Blemish Cream and thought the sponge works great for applying the BB cream. So far it applies nicely on me and I love it.

I also think that I might need the lip brush so I picked one from It's My brand. It's the auto lip brush which you can retract the brush. However, I actually didn't use it that much as I thought I would be XD

The Air Magic Puff from Innisfree Hankie Limited Edition. I thought I just need one as backup and guess what, right after this order arrived, a lot of my air sponge tear off while I'm washing them and it feels like they knew that I have a new air puff XD

I probably hadn't realize that I have so many primers untouched but I still picked one to buy. I have reviewed the Innisfree No Sebum Blur Primer with comparison with the original one HERE in case you want to read it.

I always wanted the Innisfree Creammellow Lipstick and when I saw the No.10 Latte color, I thought it would be a great brown for me but sadly, it is not a brown at all..more like dim brick red I'd say?

I already had the eye cream from Tony Moly that I'm trying but it's not hurt to add another one so I picked the Skin & Lab Don't Worry Wrinkle anddd it was the most disappointing purchase evah! It was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo dry after the liquid evaporated and made my under eye wrinkles stick to each other! wut?! I would not recommend this to anyone so don't buy it. Don't even think of wasting your money on this.

I thought I might need more mascara in my collection so I add the Missha 4D mascara. It was an okay mascara but when the bristles touches my eye when I suddenly blinked, it hurts so bad..lol
It was cheap so....

Overall, I recommend you to check out Althea for more interesting stuffs and affordable price. They have a lot of interesting kbeauty brands in list and what's great is that you get their pretty pink box for every purchase and free shipping for over RM150 order :D

Thank you for reading :D

Althea Korea Haul : Innisfree & Laneige

Hi guys! Today I'll be sharing with you about my latest haul with Althea Korea.

Althea Korea is the latest Malaysia online shopping sites featuring Korean beauty products. It is based in Korea but basically it was targeting mostly Malaysian and Singapore! They have lots of popular brands and trendy products that you might like :)

It arrives to me in this pink package! How cute is that?

I love the details of this box, never gonna throw it out ;P

Take a look closely, there's no shipping charge because every RM150 spent, you got free shipping!

Every product is packaged individually in bubble wraps with Althea stickers!

The first item! I've been wanting this for so long and because it is expensive so I wanted to swatch on the counter first before buying but since Althea sells it for a cheaper price, I just HAVE to get it!lol

I know this serum was raved everywhere and I haven't got chance to try this out because always distracted with newer released and finally I have it!yeay~

Bought these two just for fun, lol but it was RM5 each, so why not? It's CHEAP!

I'm a part of the Beta Testers for Althea website and we were given RM150 each to spend on the site before the launch (July 1st) and I'm so excited yet so confuse which to buy coz I want all of them! But I finally made decision to buy all above 4 items after a week, haha

Althea's website is so simple and had the modern touch to it. You can simply navigate to any sections listed which they had broken down to makeup, skincare, cleanser, pack & mask, whitening and new arrivals.

As far as I know, the payment system available for now is Paypal but I think they're currently in the process of adding bank transfer as one of the payment, which is would be easier for me as well.
Update: They added MOLpay which is a payment channel for online banking in Malaysia.

They offered a quite reasonable price! I've tried adding the same items on testerkorea added with k-packet shipping options and althea definitely offered a cheaper price! The reason I tried it with K-packet instead of normal Korean Registered Mail is because althea offered pretty similar delivery to K-Packet which I got my parcel exactly in 5 days after I ordered. How fast is that?! And compared to K-Packet which will take over by Pos Malaysia after it entered Malaysia, the service that althea used was either using Ta.Q.Bin or Skynet after it entered Malaysia which from my experience with Skynet, they take care of my parcel carefully and even called me before the delivery (though they called in the morning and delivered it in the evening =.=)

One exciting note is when you shop with althea, they will sent your orders in the above Althea Box! I'm super happy that they put much thoughts in that because who wouldn't be happy to received a well packaged parcel right? They even wrapped each products individually with bubble wraps and althea stickers on each as well as pink paper to protect the product. The box is also bubble wrap to protect the shape :D

For now, there is only a few products in the website which is the top picks and bestseller products. Hopefully they'll take request later coz I'm definitely going back to purchase more!

Current promotion, Every RM100 spent, you can get free shipping! Use this code ATA150 for RM20 off RM150 order!
